My style is influenced largely by one of my teachers, Kevan Gale, based out of Boston, MA. From the moment I walked into Stil Studio, I knew I would start my teaching path there. At Stil, yoga is a lifestyle. It’s about living with integrity, kindness, and heart. It’s about taking care of all sentient beings and our planet, through the practice of yoga.
In terms of the physical practice, Stil Studio teaches a style of yoga called Fluid Yoga. Fluid yoga classes dynamically link the flowing nature of the breath with mindful continual movement. This heat building flow will not only increase strength and flexibility, but will train the mind to be more content and relaxed throughout the most difficult challenges on and off the mat. Following the universal elements, we will become grounded and refine our balance with the earth element, explore flowing movement and grace with the water element, build core strength and detoxify the body with the fire element, control our breath and train the mind with the air element and relax and rejuvenate the spirit in shavasana with the space element.
Add Deb to that mix and there you go! I like to move, play, and push the boundaries of what we think we can do. Our minds are so powerful. They think we can’t do that arm balance or stay five more breaths in Warrior II. I like to dance with those boundaries, so expect a powerful class physically and mentally. With a good play list. 🙂
